Norwegian Sockies half done

Norwegian fair isle sock

I'm done one of the Norwegian fair isle socks I started in the summer.  It's the knitting project that sort of takes a back seat most of the time as I have to read a pattern so I can't be knitting at lunch or during dinners or any other social event.  It's too complicated to talk and look at a pattern and keep your place.  I save the easy projects for those situations.

This time I decided to try the magic loop sock technique and toe up as well.  Two things I've never tried before.  Magic loop is awesome, and I don't think i'll ever choose dpn's again if there is a way i can use the magic loop.   So much easier, and my work never falls off the needles either when I'm carting it around in my bag.  I also tried toe up socks.  I like this way...alot!

Caitlin - trust me, not a perfect sock :) I didn't show the bottom of the sock because it's chalk full of mistakes! :-O And you're the talented one who makes up her own quilt patterns! that's nutso awesomess right there! I wish I could make up patterns, but I pretty much just stick to following.

Chris! Hallo! How's the "leave of absence" treating you? :-O

  4. looks great! I'm just learning to knit but have "only" done toe-up magic loop. DPNs scare me :)
I have not yet tackled colorwork though...

  5. oh colour work is no problem. It looks way scarier than it actually is. You literally just hold the two colours and knit with one or the other depending on what the pattern calls for. I'd suggest learning to knit continental(with your left hand) so that you can hold one yarn in each hand while you knit away :). Make sure you stretch your stitches on already knit needle when you carry a colour over two or more stitches so you don't get a bunched up look when it's done. Knitting-help.com has amazing instructions, it's where i learned all of this!
