I wanted to sew a cute little blanket for Pawlie's sister's new baby Violet. I chose a couple of cute fabrics, and decided to do a reversible blanket with a quilted bound edge and a nice little corner pocket. I chose a chenille shag, and a cute apple print flannel. I really like the way it turned out.
Next up, queen sized Denyse Schmidt quilt. I lover her ice pops pattern, and after having made a lap sized scrap quilt, I'm excited to move on to a quilt that will actually cover a bed! And I LOVE denyse schmidts designs so much, so it'll be a fun project.

Gah! Andrea! I'm trying to get OUT of quilting and you link to Denyse Schmidt? Her work is amazing and inspiring and now I want to make another quilt!
ReplyDelete:) Don't get out of quilting, it's so fun. I say that though, knowing that after hand quilting an entire quilt, from now on, I'll probably sew/machine piece the top and back myself, then get it professionally quilted and finally do the binding myself as well. That way it'll take a day or two instead of months. Cheating a bit, I know.
ReplyDeleteI say go for a denyse schmidt project. Her book is fun, it's got alot of smaller designs in there in case you don't want to make a quilt. There's some fun oven mitts, pillows, slippers and aprons that are full of d.s. awesomeness! Wouldn't it be fun to take one of her workshops?! I love her. By the way.. i LOVE your quilt you posted! Great job!!!!!
Thanks, I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out, especially now that it's very close to being finished-I just have to hand sew the back edge of the binding. I make it sound like nothing, but I suspect it will be several movies worth of sewing.
ReplyDeleteI'm in LOVE with the Hills 'n' Hollers quilt pattern but I have to admit I am pretty loath to pay $16 for it. Especially because I know I wouldn't follow the pattern anyway, haha. Because THAT'S the kind of gal I am!
Where's the chenille shag from? Is it crazy soft? Is it organic? Cotton?
Ya 16$ is a bit much just for a pattern. I bought her first book ages ago, and have made myself do enough projects out of it so I could justify to myself that the book was worth the money! ;)
ReplyDeletegood luck with the binding.. watching movies whilst sewing is one of the reasons sewing is so much fun!
The chenille shag.. shhhhh.. it's from fabricland, and no.. unfortunately not organic. It would be awesome if it was!
